I wrote a fic for stseiya_fanfics' Multifandom Yuri Festival, which I am very excited about, but the posting date got pushed back again (to August 20th) so now my fic is all finished and sent off and I want to talk about it but I can't. :(

I guess this means I can write people extra gifts, though?

Today i successfully made dosa! I have been having dosa CRAVINGS off and on for weeks, without the chance to go get any, so i am both fulfilled and very proud.

...now i want more and there isn't any. hmph.

So I had my first ever panic attack today! Minor cosmetic surgery, nurses who can't find a god damn vein, continuous oozing blood from the site, etc etc. I really don't want to talk about it except to say a) that I have never wanted to avoid mirrors so much in my entire life, and b) this is also the first time I've spent an entire day watching netflix. I have finally seen both Ghostbusters and the Matrix.

Also my computer is broken, possibly permanently -- this is coming to you live from my tablet.

If you wish to express your sympathy for the above, please do so by talking about ENTIRELY DIFFERENT THINGS. Like your current favorite manga! Let's talk about that.

Confession: I always avoid Male Main Character/Any Female Character At All fics in fandoms where the main character is a dude, because I'm not willing to take the risk of her character arc & accomplishments being overshadowed by his. (Female character/male secondary character is usually okay. Main dude/other dude can have its own problems, but those are different. I'm just really, really tired of Hero Gets The Girl, okay.)


Incidentally, if you are going to be trapped at an airport for long periods of time, do not make it Chicago Midway. It is potentially the most boring major airport on earth. Do try and make it PDX. PDX is very nice, and i would much rather be there right now.

There's this thing in fiction that makes me see absolutely blinding red. That one where writers are like 'how can I show my main character is growing up and becoming a man? oh, I know! have him separate himself off from the women in his life, to show he is a real man who no longer needs mother figures to protect him!'

Which is bullshit in about 837591736 ways.

I mean, entirely apart from the sexism angle, there's this idea in those bildungsroman lone hero stories that he, the hero, must be the one to protect everyone (and if anyone else does it, they don't count). Which is just the most patriarchal harmful nonsense.

One of the reasons I love stories like Fullmetal Alchemist (the manga) and Sailor Moon, is because those say: everyone needs to be protected sometimes, from something. Yes, even you.
