Bleargh. Christmas was kind of fun, if very exhausting, and now I have nothing to do. Except enjoy having a real keyboard, which is nice because while my new iTouch (!) is SUPER SHINY, it is also a bitch to type on. :[ And my oven is broken. But! Everything else is okay. I have a closet full of new clothes. And you guys are awesome. Even Especially those of you I just met over at the KHR friending meme and haven't gotten a chance to know yet. So! The Five Questions meme. Ask me five questions, I'll answer them, and if you want I'll ask you another five back. My favourite getting-to-know-you exercise. :D

Also, I'm kind of burned out on all the stuff I'm writing right now, and the plot bunnies I'm getting are for series I'm not actually very familiar with. (Stuff like Naruto and Bleach, I mean, where I read like a fourth of it and stopped and everything I know from after that is through fandom osmosis.) Sooooo . . . does anyone have any ideas/requests they don't mind if I mess around with? I can't promise that I'll end up writing all or even any of them (I'm notoriously slow at writing, besides) but I would love to see some of the plots/fics you want to read but don't feel like trying to write. You know, stuff like 'an epic Severitus about Harry becoming an awesome magical engineer and having buckets of UST with Theodore Nott' or 'genderbent Squalo/Yamamoto'.

Fandoms: Anything you know I'm familiar with, though it would be nice if they weren't super-long or if they were (like Harry Potter) the kind where you can really get away with just making shit up and slapping an 'AU' label on it. Again, I can't promise I'll actually do anything -- but I want to see what kind of things you guys have kicking around your heads, and maybe get something to scribble around with.

The time travel is so much fun. :D

Oh, it is. If you decide not to go to a magical university, but you want to work in a specialized field, you can go to the Ministry, take some tests, and get your (say, Spellweaver's) certifications at a certain level. But if you want to get a Mastery in anything you have to study at least a year or two in a specialized university or under an accredited Master. And anyone can make the simplest kind of Portkey, if they know how, but Portkey makers are licensed for a good reason. *_* HP fandom is so much fun mostly because there's just so much to play with.

It's been a long time since I read the Sacrifices arc. I gave up halfway through, I think, but maybe it's time to try again . . .

I second that. :D Heh, that's why I'm awfully fond of the 4th book; it really expanded our idea of the wizarding world beyond Great Britain. I just wish we knew more about post-Hogwarts options, besides masteries--we never heard anything about universities, after all.

The Sacrifices Arc is seriously depressing. I read the entire thing as it was being published, but I'm not sure I can read it again, it's sooo long. ^^; But that worldbuilding is really something. :D

Yeah, that's why I love pre-OotP stories the best, really; a lot of them seem to have a wider view than post-OotP fics. It kind of feels like the fifth book narrowed the focus -- which is not necessarily a bad thing, but I wanted more characters who weren't British. :[ Moar awesome Bulgarian Minister, plz.

I think JKR officially said there were no wizarding universities, but I'm not buying that. ^ ^ And we don't even know how you get a Mastery; all we know is that Snape has one.

What I chiefly remember about the Sacrifices Arc is that it made me want to read about Evan Rosier. (Whom, if you recall, was mentioned exactly once in canon, as someone who took a chunk out of Moody's nose when being arrested.) :D And Peter being portrayed in a positive light, but that's nothing new.

Me too. Also, the 5th book introduced Umbridge; that alone made my liking of OotP drop. I was surprised how hard it was for me to make my way through sections in which she appeared.

I heard that too; there are almost certainly apprenticeships for Masteries, I bet. And that can't be the only option to specialize in a subject.

holy crap. Sacrifices Arc's Evan Rosier is batshit insane, but still really interesting in that I'm-not-sure-why-I-like-him kind of way. I honestly got more interested in the supporting characters (including the OCs) than Harry and Draco. ^^;

I have a love/hate thing about Umbridge; she's the quintessential baddie, enjoying what she does and not a shred of goodness in her. My favourite part of the fifth movie were all the scenes where we see her cheerfully oppressing the students -- but as far as good fiction goes, I wish she never existed.

That always happens to me with long, epic stories. :D I'll spend the entire time going "main character, whatever. Are we going to see that awesome guy from chapter five again?" (Then again, it seems I always like minor characters more than main ones. ^ ^;;)
