Note to self: You should stay the hell away from any fics in which someone is forcibly prevented from speaking, since apparently you cannot handle them. (Possibly this is something you should have discovered before reading that fic you just read, since it is the only one you have ever seen with an actual warning for just that.)

So . . . yeah. Apparently I can handle characters being in really terrible situations where someone who doesn't like them very much has complete power over them (I may not enjoy it, but I can handle it) but that + not being able to talk is a deal-breaker. Because even if someone is stronger than you in every way, if you can hit them with the right truth then you can get somewhere. Am I explaining this right? Maybe not. But evidently it's a big thing for me—I can get through things like that near-rape scene in Paprika by thinking keep talking, dig deeper, hit harder, you've almost got him. If you can talk you've got a chance, and that's important.

Any of y'all got similar problems? I don't want to accidentally rec you something that hits you the wrong way.
