I started thinking about things that need to exist, and somehow I am now on the verge of writing a novel. (Well, okay, not a novel, but possibly a bunch of short stories that look somewhat like a novel if viewed from far away.)
Rajkumari is our 'main' character. Ze works in a host club, because quite honestly if ze didn't then ze'd be spending zir evenings at bars flirting with girls anyway. Raj wears tailored suits and has made an art out of being Prince Charming. To zir, there's nothing better than the way a girl's eyes light up when you say just the right thing.
Off work, ze tends to go by 'Mari' and wear loose fluttery girly clothes. Not because ze needs the downtime—on the contrary, the chivalrous charm is completely natural—but because girly clothes are more comfortable.
Rajkumari is not very tall. No measurements as of yet. Also ze has rather large breasts. One of the really gratifying things about working in the host club is that the staff all know to call zir 'he'. Tends to read comics rather than novels. Ze's mother's family was from Kenya, but zir mother grew up in India, where she met zir father. (Incidentally, ze currently has long dreadlocks.)
Bak Hwan is one of Raj's co-workers. He's working at the host club to pay his way through college; major in psychology, minor in theatre. One of his life goals is to increase the world happiness index. He's a little bit taller than Raj, but Raj usually wears heels so Bak always ends up looking like the shortest one. He signs his last name as 'Park', but the club people (and, by extension, Raj) call him Bak. He's actually not a very serious or quiet person. Reads lots of novels. Is a little body-conscious; exercises just enough to keep his current weight. Always calls Rajkumari 'Raj', at work or otherwise.
Kitahara Natsuko is Rajkumari's best-friend-not-met-through-work. They met while shopping, and bonded over clothes and excellent fashion sense. Natsuko is big into the Lolita scene; Rajkumari is too lazy for that. Natsuko is in training to teach martial arts (not sure what style yet). She's very tall and rather muscular, so she often has trouble getting clothes that fit. She tends to read fashion books, but you can tempt her with history or novels sometimes. Comics are harder. She met Bak when Rajkumari arranged a group dinner.
She calls Rajkumari 'Mari' most of the time, and always calls Bak 'Hwan'. She likes feeling close to people.
These three are all in love with food. They get along very well, and spend a lot of time together.
Jung Seul-ah is Bak's cousin and Raj's favorite customer. She went to the host club because she heard Bak was working there and she hadn't seen him in a while, and then she spotted Raj and took an instant liking to zir. She's kind of in love with Raj, but she's zir favorite because she settles for what she can easily get and doesn't push. Well, it's more like she doesn't want to break a thing that works.
Seul-ah is kind of rich. She like fashion, but not the same kind of things as Raj or Natsuko; mostly more retro things, kind of like
bettyfelon. She's taller than Raj.
Her relationship with Bak Hwan is a little complicated. They were very close as children, since their mothers were siblings, but she was not very kind to him. They've both spent a lot of time trying to forget those days. But she heard he was working in a certain host club, so she stopped by on a whim. He was out at the time, but she met Raj and ended up telling zir the whole story. It was after this that Rajkumari arranged for Bak to meet Natsuko.
Seul-ah has never met Natsuko. She's still a little distant with Bak; another case of taking what she can get, rather than risking the whole thing.
