(Finally) watching DH2. Hermione = amazing. (But kids, you should maybe check those contract terms before actually acting on them. This is why you should have grabbed a Slytherin.)

Watching canon after seeing all this fanart is making me kind of depressed, though. Rolanda and Harriet and Hermes: WHAT COULD SHOULD HAVE BEEN.

From what Aberforth says about the set of mirrors, I think those aren't nearly as common as most of fandom assumes. I don't know if they're just out of fashion or if they're really difficult to make or something, but if they were easy to get Aberforth would just have bought a new set. Maybe some kind of Black family heirloom?

So there are only seven secret passages that go in and out! I mean, there must be a lot more inside because it's a magic castle, but it's nice to have a definite entrance/exit number.

Room of Requirement scene: Dean! Parvati! Padma! Cho! and Seamus and Luna and everyone, aaaaaa. And also I noticed that quite a lot of the students in the panned-over Great Hall scene were characters of colour, that was nice.

OMG Kingsley + Order grand entrance. BUT MOSTLY KINGSLEY. And McGonnagol, eee! Pfft she threw him through a window. Badass.

--Oh hey, was that Blaise? Fabulous.

Pansy, that is a pretty good idea for the safety of the student body! Smart girl.

I love how excited Neville is about McGonnagol's permission to blow shit up. And McGonnagol. Actually she is just great in general.

I wonder if they kept the suits of armor around specifically for that sort of thing?

Luna is amazing.

I think even from just one picture (see above link), Lady Voldemort is way scarier than Dude Voldemort. Maybe I'm biased for female villains, IDK.

Harry is actually not all that bad at being persuasive, when he really wants to. And I like the way the ghosts are done.

KINGSLEY AND DEAN. YES. My favorites forever. I want mentor-and-student fic about them, something that really goes into political implications and such. It would be super amazing.

Yay, Hermione got to destroy a Horcrux! I wasn't expecting her to at all, because of the way ladies are generally not the ones doing the action stuff in HP. Even if she just stabbed it, I am pretty okay with this.

Also wow, I had no idea there was that much scaffolding under the/an entrance to Hogwarts. It looked really nice! Well, until it got blown up.

N'aww, Neville. I am still bitter about JKR writing more about his story instead of Dean's, but he is pretty cool.

BLAISE ZABINI APPEARS. YES.

IDK why he is there instead of Draco's other usual dude (damn I forgot which is which), but hey. whatevs, he's here and I'm happy. And hey, Draco's here, I guess. But we both know who is the cooler one.

I don't care how cool a scene it makes, you do not go burning down giant rooms full of priceless historical records and artifacts. I have this instinctual aversion to scenes like that, no matter how impressive they may be. Destroying books and historical artifacts is a sure way to tick me off. IT'S JUST BULLSHIT, OKAY. *glare*

I really, really object to destroying information, if you can't tell.

I really like the way Hogwarts looks in the movies. Even when it's getting blown the hell up.

Voldemort has to be a terrible boss, I just want to say. No employee benefits at all, and a total lack of hazard payment.

And here is Harry in the Great Hall with all those wounded and dying/dead people, being a total gritty Manly Hero(tm) with manpain tears and everything, which. Eugh. Something else I object to on principle.

But of course, if we weren't going to have manpain, Hermione would have been the main character.

Re: Snape's Memories: I wish it wasn't all tilty back and forth, that's really annoying. (Also wow Dumbledore is coming off as kind of a dick here. Maybe more than kind of.) I like the smoky transitions, though.

I am never sure how I feel about Snape, not quite. I want to like him, but he is also a big jerk, and I generally don't like characters who are big jerks. It's the same kind of thing I have with Touga, I suppose. On the one hand, he is a real hero, and on the other hand, he is, well, kind of a terrible person. Those things are not mutually exclusive, I know, but it messes me up a bit.

I love love love the way spells look in the Harry Potter movies. They're beautiful.

I also kind of like the way Harry's reaction to Snape's reaction of " Dumbledore, you've been keeping him around just so he can die at the right time? THAT IS BULLSHIT" is "okay, let's go take care of that!" Teenagers, man, honestly.

I also also love the way mechanical-looking things work in the Wizarding World, they are great.

"Of course it's happening inside your head, Harry. Why should that mean it's not real?" This is basically my philosophy for everything, esp. religion.

Narcissa does not match the Narcissa in my head, not even nearly, but I quite enjoy her in any case.

Waitasec, is Draco standing next to Luna? That's kind of sweet, in an 'I will unobtrusively sidle over to the opposing side and pretend not to listen when my employer calls' kind of way.

I love how all the DA (+ other students) are like "wow, that hug is the most awkward thing ever" because you know it totally was.

Kingsley is a giant badass, I just wanna say.

And the Malfoys just get the fuck out fast as they can, good for them. Pretty sure that is the best choice the family as a whole has ever made.

Oh look, Harry Potter is staring in bondage tentacle porn. <--my immediate thought on seeing the 'Voldemort trapping Harry with his robes' scene.

"Come on, Tom, let's finish this the way we started it. Together." Harry is pretty good at one-liners too, come to think of it.

Again I must say: the movies' spellwork is gorgeous. Super gorgeous, even.

Breaking the Elder Wand in half and flinging it over the battlements = way better decision than hiding it in somebody's tomb and telling everyone about it. As well as being nicely symbolic! Just saying.

agh agh agh I have A Thing for groups of friends standing together and looking into the future. MY HEART.

At the train station: again, lots of actors of color! I am still sad that the main characters are all white. Other people have brought up how much they'd have liked to see Scorpius in the train compartment with our darling Trio's kids, and I agree with them, but it was pretty okay. Would rather not have the epilogue at all, because that Trio-looking-into-the-future scene was excellent closure for me, but eh.

Anyone got any fic they want to recommend? I've just re-read all of Blood Magic, so I'm very much in the mood for it.
