I am kind of scared of my Kaleidoscope assignment. It's in a fandom that I love, for a wonderful person, and I am in the space where I am very excited and also slightly panicked. What if I can't figure out anything good to write? What if I plot out something awesome and then I write it and it turns out terrible? Above all else, WHAT IF THEY DON'T LIKE IT?

I am seriously so wary of somehow losing/not gaining their respect. D: I know that's probably nonsense, though. And on the other hand, if I do manage to write something really fabulous and they love it, I will be incredibly happy. ♥

Writing for people I like & admire is always scary, but I love being able to do it.

I'm sure your recipient will be thrilled with whatever you write!

I agree that while it can be a bit intimidating writing for someone you know, it also makes it better in some ways because you have that extra push to really write your best. I used to participate in [livejournal.com profile] fifthmus, where I was pretty much guaranteed to get one of my fandom friends as a recipient, and I think my best fics for the fandom were written for them.

Also writing for someone you know there's the bonus of knowing more what they like. When you're writing for a total stranger often all you have to go on is their request, and it's hard to know what their feelings on X are if they don't mention it directly.
