Dear Yuletide Writer . . .

Here it is, at long last! My Yuletide letter. :D *was totally not procrastinating* This is my first time in Yuletide, so please forgive me for any minor breaks of protocol. (Major ones, of course, are something entirely different. Feel free to beat the hell out of me for those.)
General stuff: I like happiness, tragedy, slice-of-life, friendship, and witty banter. I'll generally go for friendship more than romance, and have trouble writing things that don't end happily. Despite that, I'll read well-done angstfics over and over, because if something can make me really feel for the characters, that's all that matters. On the 'happy ending' side, I love reading things about people coming to terms with their lives, discovering that despite everything sometimes it's all okay and life doesn't suck quite that much. Also, although I adore canon-compliant backstories and such, I also love love love AUs. Feel free to make use of them as much as you wish. :) And, um . . . character bashing is bad, and I trust you to judge OOC-ness on your own.

flakedice 's xxxHOLiC fics, gatewaygirl's R-and-under-rated fics (HP fandom), my lj memories that I recently remembered I had (mostly Katekyou Hitman Reborn), and my genfic C2 over at ffn (which is probably a better guide to my current tastes than my favourites list, since I haven't cleared the latter out in ages).
*I emphasize the 'can', though I'd recommend you do have a look at The Reader. And maybe There Without A Map too, if you're at all familiar with the Prince of Tennis fandom.
Bakuman:
I'll probably do a separate pimp post thing on Bakuman later, so I won't say too much about it as an introduction. Basically, it's a manga about people making manga, and it is awesome. Awesome awesome awesome. Is Fukuda more suited to seinen, after all? Will Takagi and Mashiro get cancelled? When do we get to see Hiramaru again? What epic thing will Eiji do this time?
It's probably the meta aspect that appeals to me most, but even without that the characters would be strong enough to carry it along. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. ♥
This is the fandom I'm probably most excited about, both reading and (possibly) writing. It's got such a great cast of characters, lovely moments of humour and touching-ness, and so little fic.
The thing that really bother me about most of the fic for Bakuman is that it all focuses on Shujin and Saiko. I love them to bits, I really do, but it's kind of annoying that I've never once seen anything focussing on Hiramaru or Hattori or . . . wait, I have seen fic focussed on Eiji and Fukuda. BUT NO-ONE ELSE. *frowny face* If I want to read about Shujin and Saiko's happy professionalslightly homoerotic antics, I have canon for that. I really just want to read something about the other characters -- feel free to ignore the character restrictions if you wish. (I'd even be happy for something about Takagi and Mashiro that's a bit different from the norm -- although I'd rather have Hiramaru/Aoki crackfic. :D ) And AUs are also love. (*cough* SPACE OPERA *cough*)
What I really, really want to see most of all for Bakuman is Money and Intelligence fic. But if you don't want to do that, I don't blame you -- I wouldn't want to either. ;)

No summary I could write would do it justice, so I'll link you to one here.
I actually don't have much to say about this fandom, except that I love teenage!Christopher and his epic arrogance nearly as much as I love grown-up Christopher and his epic epic-ness -- and that I wish the castle staff had gotten more screentime, since from what we've seen of them they seem totally awesome. WRITE ME FLAVIAN AND/OR TACROY FIC AND I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER.
And I totally forgot to list anything about this in the character restrictions, but if you'd rather write Witch Week fic I would be totally cool with that. :D
Dark Lord of Derkholm/Year of the Griffin:
Again, a summary from someone much cooler than me.
I remember liking Year of the Griffin much more than Dark Lord of Derkholm, mostly for the MAGIC COLLEGE HIJINKS. Apart from that, I don't really have anything to say except that I kind of want to read about Felim being polite and clever and having EPIC ARGUMENTS with his family.
Monster:
Here, again, is someone else's pimp-post. (I'm sorry! I'll make up for it by (eventually) writing up a huge Bakuman pimp-post-thing, okay?) A bit more on this fantastic series: It's chock-full of suspense, the characters are fantastic and well-developed, and everyone is pretty damn cool even when they're running around going (asbookelfe would say) NO YOU MUSTN'T KILL ANYONE YOU ARE TOO GOOD AND PURE FOR SUCH THINGS at each other. It's eighteen volumes, but you will turn the pages like lightning.
This is the other fandom I'm super-unreasonably-excited about. :D
I'd really like an after-the-end story about Johan, or the lady doctor, or grown-up Dieter, or something cute about Nina and Franz Bonaparta's puppet-making son, or a piece about Nina and Lotte, or . . . yeah, anything is good. ;)
