You know, I really wasn't sure what to make of David Pollack's Reading Against Culture: Ideology and Narrative in the Japanese Novel until I got to page thirteen, whereupon there lies a great indication of AWESOME:

I don't have a terribly strong feeling about this book yet, but I'm beginning to think it's going to be very enjoyable.
