oh, YOU BET. Especially in shoujo manga, because you would get them going on dates with girls (it looks heterosexual so it's socially acceptable) sometimes while also crushing on guys (it's not really gay so it's socially acceptable). I would always get so upset when the f/f couples would break up or even when the f/m couples resolved with her dressing feminine again, though I didn't have the vocabulary at the time to say why.
(this is lies, i absolutely did have the vocabulary but i felt bad just saying 'queer is better'. these days i have no such compunctions.)
