Date: 2014-08-25 02:18 am (UTC)murkybluematter, because oh my god, female Harry Potter + Alanna the Lioness plot + great characterization + worldbuilding, it is beautiful. Definitely read their series if you have any interest at all in Harry Potter.
If you asked me at a different time this list would probs be super different, but right now i am only talking about happy things. no sads allowed.
AK: Oh gosh. Um, mostly I'm still working on old stuff from forever ago, like literally over five years, that I have made basically no progress on since, but right now I'm also doing a Pacific Rim fic about Mako and Raleigh and their relationship with the ocean. (On the one hand, years of kaiju! on the other hand, no more kaiju and a spectacular view.)
And maybe an Iron Man: Armored Adventures fic where everyone becomes well-meaning teenage supervillains instead of heroes. (Blowing up government property. FOR JUSTICE.) Well, I guess it's a little more complicated than that . . . like, in the show Tony's perfectly fine with making weaponizable things as long as they're not technically 'weapons', but I like the idea of taking that no-weapons thing further so instead of 'accidental superheros' you get 'hardcore anti-war supervillains destroying the US government's entire armory'. I like supervillains. Heroes are great but they tend to uphold existing systems, it's a function of the whole status quo thing comics have going (where would we be if Gotham had a decent rehabilitation program and focused on fixing its structural problems?) but villains can do whatever they want.
And I'm also kind of maybe writing an original thing about a woman with a metal heart, because fantasy cyborgs. (The proper response to losing your heart in a card game, as everyone knows, is to rip the actual organ out of your chest with your bare hands and throw it in the winner's face.)

Date: 2014-08-25 02:29 am (UTC)AA: I've never actually done a full-on collaboration, but I adore brainstorming with people, and I'd love to do a collaboration with just about any of my DW/Tumblr friends.

Date: 2014-08-28 12:35 am (UTC)MANY, oh god so many. Roommate hijinks! Accidental marriage/ marriage of convenience (friendship version)! Accidental baby acquisition! Time-travel! Destined rivals maybe, but mostly because i want to do a really different take on it. The quote-unquote 'genderbending' thing where somebody magically gets boobs, only in this version it's the beginning of realizing they're actually a trans girl. Try-hard criminals with hearts of gold! Fake dating!
Even though I usually feel good about my 'serious' writing and less-good at my humor/hijinks writing (SO DISJOINTED, oh my god), I adore hijinks and can't get enough of them. So most of the stuff I want to write (specifically, stuff that other people haven't already written so i can read it) is hijinks.
M. What's the best writing advice you've ever come across?
You know that little comic that's been making its way around tumblr, with the one creator character going "His cake is so much better than my cake . . ." and the audience character going "Sweet, two cakes!" ? That is legit the most helpful thing I have ever seen, bar none. S. U. Pacat's writing techniques posts are pretty good too, but that comic is definitely the best.
Also, from multiple places: Don't lie to your audience, don't trick them, be honest. —Be sincere; whatever you're doing, do it. Go hard or go home. (Everybody's seen a ton of things that would have been amazing if they'd just followed through on their premises. Don't make those things.)
